Unlicensed friend wrecks my car without insurance, hits a telephone pole, flees the scene.?
Ok so my I let my unlicensed friend drive my uninsured car and he flipped it into a light pole, he then fled the scene. My car was paid for and what not but Im not sure what to do when the cops come asking or whatever follows that. I dont want my friend going to jail or anything and I know Im at a total loss on my car. What all can happen to him, me and what not.|||ok so indeed. Lets see.... You let some unlicensed guy drive your uninsured car, he wrecked it and now....after the fact, you want to know what can happen to you? I've just had a phone call from a company called (something) Car Data saying that they need to take the reg of my car, as they have someone wanting to buy it. Apparently these people want to purchase it via finance and this company need to do a HPI check.
To be honest this sounds really dodgy, i asked the guy to call me back at 5.

My point is, don't give your reg number out (and well done for masking it) to anyone unless you've sold them the car and you have the money. Whats the best way to remove a telephone antennae from the rear window of a car without damaging the window?
It is a 1993 chevy lumina coupe|||I assume you're talking about a antenna stuck to the outside of the glass? Clean around the antenna base so you don't scratch the glass with dirt. I suggest using a paint scraper with a razor blade and work slowly around the edges. Take your time, it isn't going to just scrape right off. As you penetrate the adhesive, squirt a little 90% rubbing alcohol into the area to help dissolve it and keep it from resticking to the glass.|||If it's a normal cellular antenna from that era, it's just stuck on... a putty knife and slow time working your way between the glass and the antenna works wonders... may have to take a razor blade to clean up any mess afterwards...

I told everyone the pole was a transformer that jumped out in front of my car, and that the telephone wires were actually it's central nervous system. I told them they needed to disect the pole in order to prove my theory. I later went to where the pole was at night and burned it. Cancelling my telephone and car insurance contract?
I am going travelling for a year and so no longer need a mobile phone contract or car insurance.
I have been told that i have to pay 3 times my monthly line rental in order to cancel the phone, and at the moment i'm not sure what the policy is for my car insurance.

With regard to the car insurance, usually (but not always, so you have to check with your company) you will get a refund (and occasionally they may deduct an administration charge - but not always). I have been told that i have to pay 3 times my monthly line rental in order to cancel the phone, and at the moment i'm not sure what the policy is for my car insurance.
Is there any way of not having to pay these hefty cancellation charges? A loophole of some kind?
Thanks|||You're stuck with it, I'm afraid. Pay the three months line rental - surely it cant be that much and would be a weight off your mind - something sorted and out of the way before you leave. With regard to the car insurance, usually (but not always, so you have to check with your company) you will get a refund (and occasionally they may deduct an administration charge - but not always). You'll have to make a phone call to clarify that situation. Good luck when you go travelling and stay safe.|||If you signed a contract for a year's line rental then you have to pay up. Three months' rental sounds like a reasonable offer to me. As for your car insurance, you can cancel it - whether you get a refund is up to your insurance company. If a telephone poll fell on my car and damaged it who fixes it?
I was driving and a telephone poll landed on my car. I infortunately didnt renew my insurance. I live in Houston and i believe the poll was weakened by the recent hurricane. But am i out of luck?|||If the pole fell because you hit it with your car, then yes, you are out of luck. If someone else hit the pole, causing it to fall on your car, then their insurance should pay. If the pole just happened to fall on its own as you drove by (not likely), then the utility company should pay. It would really help if you have witnesses for this one.|||You need to ask the town or look on the pole itself and see which company owns it. In my area some are owned by the phone company and others by the electric company. See who maintains your pole (probably Oncore). You are going to need to get your insurance back-dated for On core to pay. They refused to pay w/o proof of liability insurance.

Calculating car speed by telephone poles?
If a car is going 55 miles per hour on a road that has telephone poles along it that are 100 feet apart, how often ( in seconds ) will the car pass a pole? How about if the car speed is 60mph?|||[6]
55 mph=55x5280/60x60 ft /sec
=80.66 ft/sec
Time taken to pass a pole=time taken to travel 100 ft
=100/80.66 sec
=1.2397 or 1.24 sec
If the speed is 60 mph,the time taken would be
1.24x55/60=1.1366 sec or 1.14 sec
55 mph=55x5280/60x60 ft /sec
=80.66 ft/sec
Time taken to pass a pole=time taken to travel 100 ft

I was in the opposite lane with my blinker on the car in coming traffic flashed it lights at me but the car in the other lane it was a two lane road kept going and I crashed into it and it hit a telephone pole?|||The other driver is responsible not you. You only hit the pole because of the other person... So you win!|||If the telephone pole wires hit your car and are sparking, do NOT get out of your car. Call for some help. Then you need to jump out of your car, do not have one body part touching the car while the other touches the floor, you might get electrocuted. So jump away from the car as far as you can.

How fast would a car have to be going to knock over a telephone pole?
I was in a car collision last night (car vs telephone pole). I was in the passenger seat so I have no clue how fast we were going but I am just curious how fast we would of had to be going in a Hyundai accent to take out a small telephone pole.
it wasn't a very thick pole but I was surprised that it snapped in half.|||Depends on:

I'll bet the pole snapped about half way up and not actually where the car hit it didn't it?|||Car won't knock over a properly installed power pole. What normally happens is that the pole snaps off at it's weakest point. And that can happen at virtually any speed.|||Not that fast...40mph could do it
