Can a car be advertised for sale on a public road.?

someone keeps parking their car outside my house with a for sale sign on it and a contact telephone number. the car is taxed and on a public road. is it legal to advertise the sale of a car on a public road and outside someone else's house.|||yes and no. It all depends on locality. I believe you SHOULD be able to, but in one area near me, the local government passed an ordinance so people couldn't put For Sale signs in their own cars! They said it was a nuisance and a driving hazard, as people would slow down suddenly and stop to look. I say, then take down the For Sale signs on houses, too! People would do the same thing. Jerks...Anyway, it can go either way, it won't be a national law, more a local one. You'll have to check with your local police.|||In most municipalities, I'd have to say yes. You could contact the owner and ask him (or her) to move it. If they refuse, then "star 69" them about 4am with questions about the car.

If they still refuse to move it, contact your local police department about "a possible abandoned vehicle". In my community, if a car is reported, the police make a chalk line on a tire and another on the ground. If it has not been moved in a specific amount of time after it's been 'chalked', it'll be towed and impounded at the owner's expense.|||On a public road yes. If it's in your yard then have that b towed.
