Is this legal? i have had my car taken away by a breakers company acting on the behalf of housing company who?

who i rent my flat from. 8 days ago i had an abandoned notice on the windscreen with a telephone number asking if anyone has interest in this vehicle please contact us,so i called them and told them it was my car regesterd in my name and address and i am presently repairing the brakes ready for an m o t. today (may 1) but they took it away. i also had a SORN certificet on it, is there anything ican do about it?|||Report it as stolen to the police and give them all the information about the company that arranged for it to be taken and the company that took it. Also inform your insurers.
