Can a bullet round (9mm, .38, .40, .45 cal) penetrate a standard Yellow pages telephone directory?

Let's say a bullet round was fired (at various angle and distance) into a regular car "armored" by a layer of standard Yellow pages telephone directory. Can this bullet (either a 9mm, .38, .40 or .45 cal and non armor-piercing) penetrate past the metal sheet of the car and the telephone directory?|||Pokes a hole clean through the Guthrie phone book... but not so much damage to the OKC book. A little shared reasearch for my fellow Okie.

If you "armored" a car with phone books ... and made it a reliable bullet catcher... your car would weigh so much it would barely move under power.

Dont you kids play baseball outside anymore?|||Depends on what you mean by "standard" Yellow Pages directory. I fired a 9mm into a Tulsa phone book that contained both white and yellow pages, and it didn't penetrate. On the other hand, a pellet from my RWS Model 34 will go clean through my Oologah directory I get at my lake house.|||Here ya go, all the answers you could ever want and then some more about what rounds will go through what. This is a really cool site. This guy goes out and tests all kinds of stuff and posts pics of it all.
