Really is there ever a time you shouldn't tell the caller or the person you're calling when they're on a speaker and especially when others are in the car or office with you?|||Yes, I think you should always tell the caller you are on speakerphone. As others have indicated, you shouldn't hold a long conversation with someone else in the car (i'm sure you already know that), but there are times when you need to take a two minute call. In those cases, I would, in a friendly or funny way, let them know they are on speaker. "Hey, John, got you on speakerphone - how are you?"
or if you want to be funny, "Hey, don't talk dirty to me, Johns in the car and he'll be able to hear you!"|||I think its rude for someone to hold a conversation in front of another on speaker phone. Get a headset|||Well you could be polite and say that, but it depends on the person! if your boyfriend rang you and your best friend was in the car I wouldn't tell my boyfriend! but on the other hand if your gran was in the car, I would definitely tell him!!!!!|||Don't answer the phone if you're driving. Concentrate on driving. And I think it's rude to take a call when you're with someone else. Let the caller leave a message and call them back later.|||Not telling someone you have them on speakerphone with another person present is TACKY and RUDE. You owe them that courtesy.
I'd hang up on someone who did that to me or tell them to call me back when they're alone. I often times do tell people to take me off the speakerphone.|||As courtesy, whenever someone is on speaker phone and others around, I always say "Hey said person, you're on speaker phone." You never know what they are going to say so I think it's good manners to do so.|||Your caller has the right to know if they are on speaker and others can hear the conversation. It would be rude NOT to let them know.|||I think iys only proper to tell anyone that calls that "you're on speakerphone." You're actually protecting them .|||I agree with Melissa, always tell the person right away that they are on speaker phone, or any type of conference call.
